Compassionate, Accredited Support
Navigating conflict can be challenging. At Olivia Koorey Mediation & Family Law, we provide a calm, balanced, confidential and respectful environment to help people resolve disputes.
Based in Sydney, we specialise in Mediation, Family Dispute Resolution, Collaborative Practice and Parenting Coordination, providing flexible support in person or via secure video conferencing.
-
Mediation is a structured, confidential process where an impartial third party—called a mediator—helps people in conflict communicate, understand each other’s perspectives, and work toward a mutually acceptable agreement. It’s a future-oriented alternative to court that empowers people to make decisions together, even in challenging circumstances.
Olivia Koorey is a Nationally Accredited Mediator (NMAS).
-
Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) is a specialised form of mediation that helps separated families resolve parenting and property disputes without going to court. Guided by an accredited FDR practitioner, the process encourages respectful communication, explores practical solutions, and focuses on the best interests of children. In most parenting matters, FDR is a required step before applying to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
Olivia Koorey is a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner registered with the Attorney-General’s Department.
-
Collaborative Practice is a respectful, team-based approach to resolving family law disputes—without going to court. You, your former partner and your respective lawyers work together, usually with a coach, in structured meetings to reach mutually beneficial agreements. The process may also involve child consultants and/or financial advisers to support informed, future-focused decisions.
Everyone commits to open communication, transparency, and problem-solving—helping preserve dignity, reduce conflict, and protect relationships, especially where children are involved.
Olivia Koorey is a collaboratively trained professional and can assist in your collaborative matter.
-
Parenting Coordination is a child-focused process that helps separated parents manage ongoing conflict and implement parenting arrangements after orders or agreements are in place. It provides structured, non-confidential support to resolve day-to-day disputes—such as changeovers, communication boundaries and decision-making—without returning to court.
The goal is to reduce stress, improve co-parenting dynamics, and protect children from the harmful effects of ongoing parental conflict. Over time, Parenting Coordination can help families move from high-conflict interactions toward more stable, respectful, and cooperative parenting.
Olivia Koorey is a Parenting Coordinator trained to work with high-conflict families, to help them resolve disputes and improve their co-parenting relationship.

Dear Olivia, I wanted to say thank you. Over the last 4 ½ years my personal life felt like I was in a never ending storm, lost out at sea. I felt as if I was struggling against a tide that would not turn. Since you took over carriage of my case, you were my Lighthouse, a beacon of hope and strength that shone out through the darkness. You always listened to me, you gave me opportunities to assist with my case, and you showed empathy and understanding. Olivia, you are an upstanding member of your profession. You are a role model for any young woman who wants to study law and rise to the top of their field. You are a very intelligent, tenacious, honest and extremely hard working person. You helped turn the tide in my life, and for that, I will be forever grateful.

Dear Olivia,
Thank you for your hard work today in resolving a matter that was otherwise (almost certainly) unresolvable.

Dear Olivia, Thank you for all the help you gave me last year. As you know professionally this has been the hardest year ever for me, my family and our business. To negotiate a financial settlement on top of all that was one of the most intense and pressure filled periods of my life. Your level of professionalism and work ethic was greatly appreciated by me and helped make that experience as easy as it could be. I felt that you understood what else was going on, were happy to answer all my questions, were supportive and have a great sense of humour, in what is often, not a funny situation. I have dealt with a lot of people in my 20 years in business and have tried hard to only work with people that I like and are good at their jobs. I really felt that way interacting with you. Thank you, I really appreciated not only what you did, but how you did it.

Dear Olivia, It was a privilege to work with you during one of the most challenging periods of my life. Your tenacity was unwavering yet was always balanced by a deep sense of professionalism and compassion. You were consistently reliable, communicated clearly, responded promptly, and guided me through every step of the process with confidence and care. Not only did I feel supported legally, but I also felt genuinely cared for on a human level. You were a true pleasure to deal with, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to anyone in need of a dedicated and skilled family law practitioner. Thank you very much.
